Do your college football watching like a commish - Oct 13, 2012

Winning on Saturday is hard. You need a great plan and error free execution. That's why I make myself a TV guide on "home weekends" (not to be confused with weekends where my team is home and I'm out of town at the game). I haven't shared one of these with you guys yet this year. 99% of the reason is that I'm usually just completing it as Corso is putting on the headgear. Going into a Red River Shootout weekend, I'm much more prepared. Below is how I'll be winning this Saturday. It's just a game plan, so other than 11am-3pm, there may be audibles. If you don't live in Houston and have Comcast cable, then you'll have to ignore the channel numbers and deal with any regional broadcast differences. You may also notice there is a selfish method to my selection of games on home weekends. I can handle four feeds to four televisions in the living room -- plus a computer. Unless sickness befalls me in the 1PM hour, I *will* watch all 15 games ...

P-F10: Week 10 NFL Results (Super Big Two Week Wrap-up Post)

(last updated 11/9/10 11:36 AM) Same as yesterday, I promise to get caught up on both of these contests before the weekend is over. Current NFL Leaderboard: 12:42 PM : Thank goodness for the NFL Redzone channel. Another seemingly boring slate of games are made more interesting by their coverage. It's a good time to dig into last week's wrap up. 12:45 PM : What happened last week - Week 9 NFL Scoreboard What happened this week - Week 10 NFL Scoreboard 12:54 PM : Week 9 NFL Bonus - Brett Favre clearly called Sterger. We can hear his voice. However, I don't know about you guys, but I don't know what his man parts look like. If Brett had to tweet an excuse, er proof, that those cell phone pics weren't his junk, what would he tweet? (0-5 pts, only the first 140 characters of your answer will be considered) ANo, Northmen - "That couldn't be me because I'm straight cc: @Sterger69 @RealCommishTagliabue" (FTW! +5) GN, Ferments-A-Lo...

P-F10: Week 10 NCAA Results (Super Big Two Week Wrap-up Post)

(last updated 11/7/10 3:38 PM) Current NCAA Leaderboard: 11:00 AM : Before the day is over, I'll get all the Week 9 NCAA wrapped up. The football is slightly weak today. Arguably the best game of the day (TCU/Utah) is on opposite of the other best game of the day (Bama/LSU). On top of that, TCU/Utah is on CBS-CS and not available in HD, at least it is on my Comcastic cable carrier. NASCAR Nationwide and/or horse racing and/or ps3 may get some TV time today. 11:36 AM : Thirty six minutes into Week 10 game watching and there are already like 38 turnovers in the Michigan/Illinois game. But I know that 30 minutes from now that piece of information won't be very interesting. What would be interesting is the... Week 10 NCAA Scoreboard 11:44 AM : Is anyone up on this Death to the BCS book? I haven't read a book since middle school (and when I say "read" I mean I got pretty close to finishing because it was short), but if I did read books, I would read this one. ...

A Day in the NCAA

Not sure yet if this will be an ongoing, day long journal or just a shorter glimse into the day. First, a little housekeeping, for Pickem Dash pickers, here is the card that will be updated all day: Week 9 NCAA Card This is unequivocally the most exciting time of year for NCAA Football. The only thing that might compare is the opening week (after what seems like 275 days of NO football). But that week, we are treated to awesome matchups like Texas Tech vs. North Dakota, Kansas vs. N. Colorado, and Northwestern vs. Towson. The year end matchups are also a nominee, but it gets really regional. Texas vs. Texas A&M is THE game for me. But watching South Carolina vs. Clemson, USC vs. UCLA, or the Civil War in Oregon is nothing more than a matchup of borderline ranked teams here. Which brings me to today. Just past the midpoint of the season for most teams. Almost every conference race is far from over, much to debate about who will beat who down the stretch. There are no more Mia...

P-F09: Week 2 NCAA - Semi-Live Bloggin' It

Image
(updated 9/14 11:07 PM) LINK TO SCORECARD 7:05AM: Baby alarm... awesome. 7:15AM: Any attempts to get any more sleep are futile with kids chatting. 8:15AM: Amanda heads off to some we-help-you-cook-your-food-and-you-bring-it-home-and-freeze-it pyramid scheme party thing. Now it is just me, this one , this one , and football. 8:52AM: Wrapped up getting the living room set up. Madison used a squirt bottle to "clean" one of my TVs. Now the controls don't work. Sweet. 8:58AM: Ollie drops a deuce... really?!? 2 minutes before Gameday starts? TiVo is my friend. 9:01AM: Ollie beats me out of the room (since I have to do some post wiping cleanup), grabs the remote, and changes the channel. So much keeping my spot paused on ESPN. The Scene 9:02AM: Gameday starts slightly late. I'm greeted with the same crappy, barely retooled Collage Gameday intro. WTF is up with that thing?! I don't want any tings in my tang tang, thank you very much. If all Disney Sports can get is irrele...
