2010 NFL Playoff Contest - Official Open Post

SUPER BIG GAME PICK UPDATE:
(via PricewaterhouseCoopers Longhorn Dave)
Summary:
Dickey: 988 wagered on Pittsburgh (+2.5)
Schneider: 844 wagered on Pittsburgh (+2.5)
GNorris: 780 wagered on Pittsburgh (+2.5)
MNorris: 0 wagered on Houston Texans

Okay, kidding on the Texans part, but he said neither team, no points.

So I guess it's Dickey and MNorris (with Final Jeopardy! crafty type wagering)

Dave
SUPER BIG GAME PICK UPDATE #2:
If any of four other people with point totals higher than 311 would have wagered on the Pack, they would have won. BUT THEY DIDN'T!
Congrats Matt. Nice strategery.

The road to the Death Star goes through........ Seattle. The first sub-.500 team to ever make the NFL playoffs. Nice one NFL. And here I thought the bowl system is stupid. I really like football though. I even like bad football. If it were up to me, screw adding two more regular season games... everyone makes the playoffs! But is it just me or is the NHL the smartest professional league or what? What? I know what you are thinking. Canadians don't even know what a "sweater" is, how could they have the best playoff system? You're right I suppose. I'm just playing. The BCS is awesome.

What was I talking about? Oh yes, the P-F10 NFL Playoff Contest. The scorecard is below. Be clickin' it to embiggen it.

To each his own, but my advice for the 2011...
You got to keep your hood pass in tact, y'all
Cause you never know when you'll need to go back.

NEW YEAR'S NOON-ISH GAMES
> Bowl Games 23-26 of 35
TicketCity Bowl - Dallas, TX - Cotton Bowl
January 1, 2011 11:00 AM
Northwestern 38, Texas Tech 45

Outback Bowl - Tampa, FL - Raymond James Stadium
January 1, 2011 12:00 PM
Florida 37, Penn State 24

Capital One Bowl - Orlando, FL - Florida Citrus Bowl
January 1, 2011 12:00 PM
#15 Alabama 49, #7 Michigan State 7

Gator Bowl - Jacksonville, FL - EverBank Field
January 1, 2011 12:30 PM
#21 Mississippi State, Michigan

What I learned after these games... Xmas decorations are way way easier to take down than they are to put up... the SEC is way way better than the Big Ten... Texas Tech can't help being Texas Tech-y, no matter what... Big Ten teams have given up 45, 52, 49 and 37 in four bowl games today, Four L's. JoePa is not, I repeat NOT retiring.

What I drank during these games... First beer of the new year... Independence Brewing Stash IPA. Yeah, I took a picture. Here's to more success for my brewery in 2011.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... New leader. Ferments-A-Lot (GN) with 291. Hey, that's me! Bevo XIV (DW) is back in charge of the statistical I-win-if-I-get-all-the-rest-of-my-picks-right lead.

> Bowl Games 27 of 35
Rose Bowl - Pasadena, CA - Rose Bowl
January 1, 2011 4:00 PM
#5 Wisconsin 19, #3 TCU 21

What I learned after this game... The little guy pulls one off every once and a while. In fact, this little guy may have been able to pull off a few in a playoff scenario. Too bad we don't have one of those.

What I drank during this game... Water. Sorry.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Cacti3 (DC) regains the lead and has 301 points overall. WhooDat4Life (Lo) is once again your statistical leader.

> Bowl Games 28 of 35
Fiesta Bowl - Glendale, AZ - University of Phoenix Stadium
January 1, 2011 7:30 PM
#25 UConn 20, #9 Oklahoma 48

What I learned after this game... To tell you the truth, I didn't really watch this game. Meaningless bowl games. Every game matters... except the last one.

What I drank during this game... It was hard keeping any open containers of liquids in the house. You know, with OU sucking and all.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Once again back is the incredible.er-uh. GN has the lead with 337. Lo is in the statistical driver's seat for the 2nd straight game.

> Bowl Games 29 of 35
Discover Orange Bowl - Miami, FL - Sun Life Stadium
January 3, 2011 7:30 PM
#5 Stanford 40, #12 Virginia Tech 12

What I learned after this game... Frank Beamer is less "big game" than Bob Stoops.

What I drank during this game... I went with a trio of holiday beers. Saint Arnold Christmas Ale, Anchor Our Special Ale, and Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. All 2010 vintages.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... What the Deutsch? Novacain (CCa) bet big on Stanford and has taken the lead. Lo still has the statistical lead.

> Bowl Games 30 of 35
Sugar Bowl - New Orleans, LA - Superdome
January 4, 2011 7:00 PM
#6 Ohio State, #8 Arkansas

What I learned after this game... I can't think of many more miserable games to have to "root" for someone than the Buckeyes and the Razorbacks. I picked tOSU, but it really had nothing to do with my hatred for arky. I recently hung out with 5-time Jim Rome Smackoff winner and current 1560 AM The Game radio host -- don't ask why... maybe it is because he respects my sports opinions... ok, probably not. But anyway. -- We talked, ate,  and drank all night (on his dime!) and the night was ended after my insistence that -- Alright. I won a bet. That's why he had to hang with me. -- So anyway, he totally lost interest in me. -- It was an Aggie bet I won. Haha! It turns out, I write pretty fantastic Aggie haiku. -- And anyway, he ended our encounter after I insisted that if Texas' rivalry with OU didn't exist (for whatever reason), then Arkansas would be our biggest rival... not Texas A&M. Sure, this isn't technically something that *I* learned after this game, but it's something that *you* learned. Don't agree? I can talk. All. Night. Long.

What I drank during this game... The Bruery 3 French Hens. A Belgian-style dark ale partially blended with an oak aged version. The result is a very Belgian-y beer that isn't overwhelmed with oak flavor. Holy crap. It was good. Wish I had another. Yeah, I took a picture.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Smokey's Bandits (KH) leads a lap in the Bowl Contest. He can stay on top next game by missing the pick. For the 4th straight game, Lo holds the statistical lead.

> Bowl Games 31 of 35
GoDaddy.com Bowl - Mobile, AL - Ladd-Peebles Stadium
January 6, 2011 7:00 PM
Middle Tennessee State 21, Miami (Ohio) 35

What I learned after this game... Nothing. I learned nothing.

What I drank during this game... I had one of my favorite Tuesday wines, Hood & Ladder The Tillerman. I wrote a blog post one time about Tuesday wines.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Bevo XIV (DW) has regained the lead. Sorry Smoke, there really wasn't a scenario where you could win at this point anyway. WhooDat4Life (Lo) hold the statistical lead, although some of you may now notice that there are several possible winners depending on how the last few bowl games play out.

> Bowl Games 32 of 35
Cotton Bowl - Dallas, TX - Cotton Bowl
January 7, 2011 7:00 PM
#11 LSU 41, #18 Texas A&M 24

What I learned after this game... It turns out, the SEC *is* better than the Big XII. But seriously, who would have guessed that at the beginning of the season?

What I drank during this game... Flying Dog Raging Bitch (Denver, CO). It's a Belgian-style IPA, and I don't think I've enjoyed a new beer sold in six packs more than this one in a very long time. Bravo, crazy dudes at Flying Dog with your crazy names and delicious beers.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Bevo XIV (DW) has the lead for the 2nd straight game as we enter the last 3 games of the bowl season. However, my (GN) masterplan is about to be realized. Muhuhahahahaaaa!

> Bowl Games 33 of 35
BBVA Compass Bowl - Birmingham, AL - Legion Field
January 8, 2011 11:00 AM
Pittsburgh 27, Kentucky 10
What I learned after this game... Kentucky has a football team.

What I drank during this game... Dr. Pepper

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Novacain is now in the lead. His path to victory is to get the next pick (a BC win) and miss the championship pick (an Oregon win). I once again have the highest point potential, so I'm pulling for a Nevada/Auburn combo.

WINNING SCENARIOS (final 2 games):
Nevada, Oregon: 13 National Championships (CG)
Nevada, Auburn: Ferments-A-Lot (GN)
Boston College, Oregon: Novacain (CCa)
Boston College, Auburn: Ferments-A-Lot (GN)

> Bowl Games 34 of 35
Fight Hunger Bowl - San Francisco, CA - AT&T Park
January 9, 2011 8:00 PM
#13 Nevada 20, Boston College 13
What I learned after this game... Football saves lives. No one is hungry anymore.

What I drank during this game... Tonight, I had a Capri Sun. Lemonade flavor. The kids go bananas for these. They'll slurp down several at a time. It turns out - uhhh - these things are not - ummm - very flavorful. Nope, they don't really taste like much, but let's keep this between adults. Okee?

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Bevo XIV gets to lead a lap during a yellow flag. CG and GN duel it out in a green/white/checker. Good luck bro (not really... ok really... but not really).

WINNING SCENARIOS (final game):
Oregon: 13 National Championships (CG)
Auburn: Ferments-A-Lot (GN)

> Bowl Games 35 of 35
BCS National Championship Game - Glendale, AZ - University of Phoenix Stadium
January 10, 2011 7:30 PM
#2 Oregon 19, #1 Auburn 22

What I learned after this game... That cheaters win. I'm not talking about me, I'm talking about Auburn... and the SEC.

What I drank during this game... A lot. Enough to where I didn't update this until the morning after.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after these games... Bevo XIV (DW) started with 13 more points, correctly picked 69% to my 60%, but still lost. This is why confidence pools suck (if you are DW) or are totally totally sweet (if you are me). Head nod to 13 National Championships (CG), who would have who if those crazy ducks from the Northwest had won. Head nod to One Man Wolfpack (MF) who picked the 2nd highest % of games correct at 66%.

WINNER:
Auburn & Ferments-A-Lot (GN)

2010 Bowl Pick'em Challenge - Official Open Post (Xmas to New Year's Eve Games)

> Bowl Game 8 of 35
Little Caesars Pizza Bowl - Detroit, MI - Ford Field
December 26, 2010 7:30 PM
FIU 34, Toledo 32

What I learned after this game... If you attended the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, you could not get a Little Caesars Pizza inside the stadium. Ford Field has a contract with a different pizza joint. Also, I was thinking, a "Pizza Bowl" sounds pretty good. Someone needs to get on that.

What I drank during this game... Independence Brewing Company's Stash IPA (Double IPA) and Independence Convict Hill (Imperial Oatmeal Stout). If you aren't drinking these beers, we can't be friends.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... We're getting blitzed folks. BlitzKrieg (RK) still holds the lead (149) and now also controls his own destiny.

> Bowl Game 9 of 35
Independence Bowl - Shreveport, LA - Independence Stadium
December 27, 2010 4:00 PM
Air Force 14, Georgia Tech 7

What I learned after this game... Apparently option attack doesn't necessarily translate into a prolific offense. Oh yes, and also the Air Force Falcon flew away during the game!! Sure, he came back before it was over, but where the heck did he go? #gambling

What I drank during this game... An educated guess. No seriously, I took a picture.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... For the 6th straight bowl game, BlitzKrieg (RK) is leading the pack. He still controls his own destiny as well.

> Bowl Game 10 of 35
Champs Sports Bowl - Orlando, FL - Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium
December 28, 2010 6:30 PM
#22 West Virginia 7, North Carolina St. 23

What I learned after this game... The Kids Are All Right is a really good movie. Let's be clear, there is a lot of sex in this movie. Girl on Girl, Vibrator on Girl, Guy on Guy (on DVD), and Guy on Girl... but it's also a really good movie. What?

What I drank during this game... Erath 2008 Pinot Noir. An Oregon wine. Screw top. I recommend it... and I took a picture.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... For the 7th straight bowl game, BlitzKrieg (RK) blah blah he's awesome blah blah no seriously awesome.

> Bowl Game 11 of 35
Insight Bowl - Tempe, AZ - Sun Devil Stadium
December 28, 2010 9:00 PM
#14 Missouri 24, Iowa 27

What I learned after this game... The Big 12 sucks so bad it convinced the media Missouri was #12 worthy.

What I drank during this game... Keeping with the Oregon Willamette Valley theme... Ponzi 2008 Pinot Noir. Also a screw top. Also recommend it... and I took a picture.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... I would like to interrupt this regularly scheduled announcement of BlitzKrieg's (RK) lead for the 8th straight bowl game to let you guys know that 13 National Championships (CG) is now the statistical leader.

> Bowl Game 12 of 35
Military Bowl - Washington D.C. - RFK Memorial Stadium
December 29, 2010 2:30 PM
East Carolina 20, Maryland 51

What I learned after this game... Ralph Friedgen and Mark Mangino are out of a job. There are a ton of coaches available right now.

What I drank during this game... Pre-lubing for the Texas Bowl later this evening, I met the man behind Bevo XIV (DW) at Stag's Head. If you live in Houston and haven't visited this pub, you are missing out (and now you have a homework assignment). I drank a Southern Star Buried Hatchet Stout (Conroe, TX) and an Anchor Steam 2010 Our Special Ale (San Francisco, CA) before we decided to change locations. I want to note here that each of our beers, spanning from Blondes to Stouts, were served at the proper temperature. Next up was BRC Gastropub (BRC stands for Big Red Cock! and now that we have that out of the way...). I've never been, but I've heard the beer selection was great. It was. I ordered a Jester King Black Metal Imperial Stout (Austin, TX). The beer was awesome. However, it's funny that we had we had a conversation about serving temperature at Stag's and my Imperial Stout at BRC came out ice freaking cold... in a frozen pint glass. Folks, you may like ice cold beer, but an ice cold Imperial Stout tastes nothing like a cool Imperial Stout. I loved the beer... 30 minutes later. No pictures, sorry.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... BlitzKrieg's (RK) still has it going on for the 9th straight bowl game with 161 points. 13 National Championships (CG) is still the statistical leader for the 2nd straight bowl game.

> Bowl Game 13 of 35
Texas Bowl - Houston, TX - Reliant Stadium
December 29, 2010 5:00 PM
Illinois 38, Baylor 14

What I learned after this game... Baylor sucks. How did Texas lose to those fkrs?

What I drank during this game... Inside the stadium, you have to take out a small loan to drink. But who can watch Baylor football sober? I took out that loan and used it to purchase a Long Hammer IPA, nachos grande, and those cinnamon coated nuts. I'm sure Long Hammer is a Miller or Bud product (I'm not interested enough to Google it), but at $8.50 for a pint, that gives it a 53 CPRSO (cents per Reliant Stadium ounce). That is pretty high dollar according to Bevo XIV/DW/JR Ewing's blog post exposing inconsistencies in Minute Maid Park beer prices. However, it has probably 150% of the alcohol content of a Bud Light, so it's cents per ABV per ounce is probably a lot better (EDIT: I did the math, it is 8.2 vs Bud Light's 12.6 CPAPO-RS - Cents per AVB per ounce, Reliant Stadium). I took a picture from my seats... missed the beer in the shot.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... What the?! Bevo XIV (DW) is winning now, breaking RK's 9 game streak. CG holds the statistical lead for the 3rd straight game.

> Bowl Game 14 of 35
Armed Forces Bowl - Dallas, TX - Gerald J. Ford Stadium
December 29, 2010 8:15 PM
#16 Oklahoma State 36, Arizona 10

What I learned after this game... Oklahoma State is invincible!! Just wait until next year!! With all the players that they are returning, OSU may win EVERY game next year!! Oh wait, they just played Arizona and they also still have Mike Gundy as a head coach.

What I drank during this game... I may have bailed early on the Baylor game and I may have gone to The Broken Spoke for mussels, frites, and beer and I may have taken a picture.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... If you are Bevo XIV (DW), then you are happy (192 points, 23 point lead). If you are CG and you get all the rest of your picks correct, then you are happier.

> Bowl Game 15 of 35
Armed Forces Bowl - Dallas, TX - Gerald J. Ford Stadium
December 30, 2010 11:00 AM
Army 16, SMU 14

What I learned after this game... Army had not won a bowl game in 24 years. Almost a quarter century. Whoa.

What I drank during this game... I was sans kids, since they were at a sleep-over at their grandparents' after my Texas Bowl extravaganza the day before. We took the opportunity to eat sushi. Sushi restaurants are not exactly kid friendly... I'm just saying. For me, Kirin Ichiban and sake go together like rice and soy sauce. So that's what I did. No picture proof though.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... Army hasn't won a bowl game in 24 years! Despite that, 2 of you picked them, including Cacti3's (DC) 31 point confidence pick for Army. Respect. Because of all the missed picks, DW is still in the lead with 192 points and CG still holds the statistical lead.

> Bowl Game 16 of 35
Pinstripe Bowl - Bronx, NY - Yankee Stadium
December 30, 2010 2:30 PM
Kansas State 34, Syracuse 36

What I learned after this game... You cannot salute after scoring a touchdown... at least in front of Mr. Blowhard Ref. I hope he sleeps pretty fkn bad tonight, @$$hole.

What I drank during this game... Dr. Pepper, which is a delicious spiced cherry beverage. In fact, Dr. Pepper is the most delicious spiced cherry beverage I've ever tasted in my entire life.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... Not much has changed. DW has the lead for the 4th straight bowl game and CG holds the statistical lead for the 6th straight game.

> Bowl Game 17 of 35
Music City Bowl - Nashville, TN - LP Field
December 30, 2010 5:40 PM
North Carolina 30, Tennessee 27 (20T)

What I learned after this game... Double OT in a meaningless bowl game is probably only interesting to fans of the teams playing and gamblers. Sorry purists.

What I drank during this game... Magic Hat #9. "Not so pale ale." Look guys, the secret is out, it is apricots. Own up to it. This is what it looks like when it was finished. If you look closely, there is a little tiny bit in the bottom.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... DW, 204 points, lead for 5th straight game. CG, statistical lead, 7th straight game.

> Bowl Game 18 of 35
Holiday Bowl - San Diego, CA - Qualcomm Stadium
December 30, 2010 9:00 PM
#17 Nebraska 7, Washington 19

What I learned after this game... Sure, I missed the pick, but so did most everyone else. What I found out is that it really makes me happy to watch Nebraska exit the Big XII so miserably. There are some really great people in Nebraska. I'm being serious. Newsflash though, there are good people outside of Nebraska too. Fakest "Best Fans" Ever. I'm glad I got that out.

What I drank during this game... Saint Arnold Christmas Ale. I took a picture too.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... DW, 205 points, lead for 6th straight game. CG AND DW hold the statistical lead, 7th straight game for CG.

> Bowl Game 19 of 35
Meineke Bowl - Charlotte, NC - Bank of America Stadium
December 31, 2010 11:00 AM
South Florida 31, Clemson 26

What I learned after this game... It was more interesting than the ND/Miami game... whatever that means.

What I drank during this game... It is New Year's Eve, yo. It seems like a bad idea to drink during the day.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... DW, 205 points, lead for 7th straight game. CG, statistical lead for 7th straight game.

> Bowl Game 20 of 35
Sun Bowl - El Paso, TX - Sun Bowl
December 31, 2010 1:00 PM
Notre Dame 33, Miami (FL) 17

What I learned after this game... No matter what, this'll always be Catholics vs. Convicts. Sorry Tha U. Speaking of criminals, the "drug war" in Ciudad Juarez has claimed like 3000 lives this year. I  wonder if that was in the Sun Bowl game program.

What I drank during this game... Watering up still.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... DW, 208 points, lead for 8th straight game. WhooDat4Life (Lo) is now the statistical leader.

> Bowl Game 21 of 35
Liberty Bowl - Memphis, TN - Liberty Bowl Memorial
December 31, 2010 2:30 PM
Georgia 6, Central Florida 10

What I learned after this game... Six to ten. Nice one SEC. UCF won their first ever bowl game. I can appreciate that.

What I drank during this game... Tequila shots. Nah just kidding. Water.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... Catci3 (DC) moves DW out of the lead. 213 points is enough to do it right now. Lo still controls his own destiny if he wins out.

> Bowl Game 22 of 35
Chick-fil-A Bowl - Atlanta, GA - Georgia Dome
December 31, 2010 6:30 PM
#19 South Carolina 17, #23 Florida State 26

What I learned after this game... This was certainly a game for old school haters. Coach Superior vs. Free Shoes University. Truth be told, this was one of my favorite bowl games of the season so far. However, If you had told me that almost the entire game would be played without FSU's Christian Ponder and USC's Marcus Lattimore, then I may not even bothered to tune in.

What I drank during this game... I almost made it a whole day of football without a drop. Then this spread happened. A couple of those are really nice, in case you weren't impressed. And the best part of drinking well is drinking other people's good stuff. Just saying. Cheers to more of that in 2011!

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... Catci3 (DC) was the only one to pick FSU. He ups his points to 222, will stand as the last Bowl Challenge leader is 2010. Lo still controls his own destiny for the 3rd straight bowl game.

2010 Bowl Pick'em Challenge - Official Open Post (Pre-Xmas Games)

12/27/10 12:32 PM Update: I started a new post for the the Xmas to New Years games, but that isn't an excuse for not knowing what happened in bowl games 1 through 7 of the 2010 bowl season.

Friends... gather 'round. The college football bowl season is all up on us and everything. Time to die get crunk.

The bowl card is a beast... click the picture to bring up a larger version.

> Bowl Game 1 of 35
New Mexico Bowl - Albuquerque, NM -  University Stadium
December 18, 2010 1:00 PM
BYU 52, UTEP 24

What I learned after this game... 5 people didn't turn in their cards. To the other 20, our odds of winning just got better.

What I drank during this game... I was on the road to historic Marshall, TX during this game. When on the road, my drink of choice is a Code Red Mountain Dew.

What I just learned while typing the sentence above... Marshall, Texas' website is crazy wicked awesome.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... Novacain (CCa) and The Nine-Five (A-C) were pertty freaking confident (34 points) that 6-6 BYU was going to sneak up on UTEP, who were probably too busy getting hand jobs or something.

> Bowl Game 2 of 35
Humanitarian Bowl - Boise, ID - Bronco Stadium
December 18, 2010 5:30 PM
No. Illinois 40, Fresno State 17

What I learned after this game... This was Fresno State's 2nd loss on the blue turf this year. They were outscored on it 91-17 in 2010.

What I drank during this game... After making it to Marshall, I went to church. I passed on the wine.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... BAM! With 42 points, the leader is me. My team name is Ferments-A-Lot. My game initials are GN. Let's end this here.

> Bowl Game 3 of 35
New Orleans Bowl - New Orleans, LA - Superdome
December 18, 2010 8:00 PM
Ohio 21, Troy 48

What I learned after this game... ESPN.com tells me that the Ohio Bobcats have never won a bowl game. If you are going to lose however, New Orleans isn't a bad place to do it.

What I drank during this game... I took a picture.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... Ferments-A-Lot (GN), 58. WhooDat4Life (Lo), still holds a statistical lead if he gets all the rest of his picks correct.

> Bowl Game 4 of 35
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl - St. Petersburg, FL - Tropicana Field
December 21, 2010 8:00 PM
Southern Miss 28, Louisville 31

What I learned after this game... Apparently Brett Favre played for So. Miss? Did you guys know that Brett Favre played for Southern Mississippi??

What I drank during this game... Stranahans. A lot. I took a picture. That bottle was full when the night started. I wish I could say I had company over.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... BlitzKrieg (RK) takes the lead with 76. 13 National Championships (CG) holds the statistical lead, which means he would win if he got all the rest of his picks correct.

> Bowl Game 5 of 35
MAACO Bowl - Las Vegas, NV - Sam Boyd Stadium
December 22, 2010 7:00 PM
#20 Utah 3, #10 Boise State 26

What I learned after this game... Boise is fun to say. Boise. Boyyy-seee. But MAACO is funer. MAYCO. MAAAAACOOOOooooOOOO.

What I drank during this game... Right now, I'm drinking a Saint Arnold Christmas Ale. I buy every Saint Arnold seasonal when they come around because they are my hometown brewery. I also root for the Astros, Rockets, and Texans for the same reason. During dinner, which was spent over at my parents' house, we blew through like 4 wines. We made paella, and when I say we, I mean they bought everything, printed like 3 recipes, and I cooked... and drank. My dad kept the wine coming. During dinner, we did a Spanish wine, because... you are keeping up right? I took a picture later on.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... BlitzKrieg (RK) put it all on Boise (smart) and still has the lead with 111. Hey hey... I (GN) hold the statistical lead, which means I would win my own game if I get all the rest of my picks correct. Money.

> Bowl Game 6 of 35
Poinsettia Bowl - San Diego, CA - Qualcomm Stadium
December 23, 2010 7:00 PM
Navy 14, San Diego State 35

What I learned after this game... 1.5 million gallons of rainwater were pumped out of Qualcomm Stadium before the game could be played.

What I drank during this game... I didn't drink anything interesting. But what I wanted to drink was Dogfish Head Bitches Brew, which was being tapped at Petrol Station this evening. Instead, I finished up xmas shopping. *sigh*

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... BlitzKrieg (RK) still holds a pretty solid lead with 134 points. RK put 23 points on this game. Damn. Smokey's Bandits (KH) and 13 National Championships (CG) now hold the statistical lead.

> Bowl Game 7 of 35
Hawaii Bowl - Honolulu - Aloha Stadium
December 24, 2010 7:00 PM
#24 Hawaii 35, Tulsa 62

What I learned after this game... In the battle of one of the worst places in the United States and one of the best, it all really comes down to not turning the ball over 6 damn times. Apparently you can't win the game that way.

What I drank during this game... Christmas Eve with dinner with my parents I drank wine. Some pretty good stuff, but didn't take any pictures, so I don't remember. At home, while putting together toys for the kids ...er... while prepping the fireplace area for Santa, I drank a Celebration Ale. I didn't take a picture, but a dude I know wrote a review of it one time.

What the Bowl Challenge points look like after this game... The BlitzKrieg (RK) lead continues (141 points, 26 point lead), however the statistical lead is now head by Bevo XIV (DW).

P-F10: Week 18 Bonus: What Went Wrong?

Football season's highs and lows AND/OR fantasy football highs and lows AND/OR life's highs and lows...

Northmen (ANo): I think the real question is....What didn't go wrong? The answer... at least the retractable roof still works! Poor Texans!! What else didn't go wrong you might ask?? The Cowboy's record! SWEET!
I think Schadenfreude is one of the best medicines for depression... and alcohol... but I'm not a doctor.

Ferments-A-Lot (GN): My decisions were swift and sound. However, I was given bad advice.
Not taking blame is the American way.
+4

Bevo XIV (DW): I was turning left into BRC from the middle lane and the guy T-boned me. I agree. That is how it happened. -witness
+4

Novacain (CCa): Didn't watch enough football from Germany this year. It turns out that this makes a difference.
The oooooollllllllllld German excuse. Nice one.

+4

The Nine-Five (A-C): My dad burned the pancakes.
Bummer, unless "burning the pancakes" is some sort of euphemism that I don't understand.
+4

Beelzebubbles (CCo): It all happened too fast.
Now I'm positive that this is some of euphemism that I don't understand.
+4

Dave's Bonus (DD): First it was that !@#$% burned turkey.  Then it was Roy Williams.  Need I say more?  And then the entire national sports media held a candlelight vigil because of one sideline bump out of bounds on Mickey Mouse... er Vick.  @#$%! And it all culminated with the cancellation of a football game because... wait for it... a few snow flakes in Philly.  Can you say Ice bowl !?!?  Seriously, wouldn't the world be better off with a few less Philidephians?
I feel you, but I'm the one that gets to ask the questions.
+4

Pimp Possee (JB): Obama was elected....
Zing.
+4

Football is Fun (MN): It's all John Madden's fault.
Agreed.
+4

Accidental Champs (ANe): I'm a Cowboys fan.
Agreed.
+4

One Man Wolfpack (MF): Tried to pick too many upsets.
Could have been worse.
+4

WhooDat4Life (Lo): Well for starters there has never been a season with 4 head coaches fired mid season....well and my Saints shouldn't have lost the bullshit games early in the season.  Still Superbowl bound. WHO DAT!.
Should have been 5 head coaches. Just *sneeTexanseeze* sayin'.
+4

BlitzKrieg (RK): For my team, it was what went right at the end of the year.  One of the best (if not the best) defensive lines in the NFL helped mask both the youth in the secondary and the multitude of non-drafted free-agents that manned the three starting LB spots much of the year.  On offense, the emergence of Brandon Pettigrew made our two tight end set -- along with a rotation of the sure handed Tony Scheffler and the excellent blocking Will Heller --  tough to defend against and assisted us in finally establishing a running game.  This in turn allowed our third and second string QBs additional time in the pocket to find Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson downfield.  If Matt Stafford stays healthy next year, the Lions will contend for a playoff spot.  I think the Bears are fraudulent and the Vikings are on the decline.
For my team, I stuck around when they didn't draft hometown hero VY and chose instead to give an $8M bonus to David Carr. This year, after hanging on to Gary Kubiak and crew for a year too long, I'm gone. Free agent. I'm not hopping on the Lion's fan team though. Too much heartache.

but if I were to pick a winner...
Large Donkey Circus (KS):
Well for some of us, it was Mack or a Lack of Colt,
For Others it was Les and JJ giving us a jolt,
People in Norman just all around blow,
And those Cowgirls spend a lot of dough.
No nothing went wrong, it was all as it seems,
The Saints coming off the season of dreams,
So Back to Back to the bowl they sail,
As I sit back and drink my Two Hearted Ale.

PS - Suck it again cowboys
